TREATMENTS

  • acupuncture needles

    ACUPUNCTURE

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the insertion of needles at specific points on the body is used to restore balance to the flow of qi, or life energy, in the body. Viewed through the lens of modern science, it reduces inflammation, releases our bodies’ natural painkillers, and relaxes the nervous system. Acupuncture is a holistic practice that considers the overall health and well-being of the individual rather than just focusing on a specific symptom or condition.

  • moxa cone

    MOXIBUSTION

Moxibustion, or “moxa,” is a TCM technique that involves the burning of the herb mugwort near or on the skin to boost immunity, relieve pain, and promote healing. It is commonly used in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance the treatment's effectiveness. Moxa is often used to treat digestive issues, respiratory problems, neuropathy, and musculoskeletal conditions.

  • herbs and tea cup

    HERBAL MEDICINE

Typically prescribed in synergistic formulas, Chinese herbs are often used to treat digestive issues, respiratory problems, and skin conditions, as well as to support overall wellness and longevity, and are often a critical component of treatment plans for internal medicine. Herbal medicine comes in different forms, including brewed raw herbs, teas, and pills. At Griffin Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine, we specialize in providing custom formulated plant-based prescriptions for our vegan and vegetarian patients, as well as custom wheat-free formulations for our gluten-free patients.

  • bodywork with cupping

    CUPPING

Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the placement of small glass cups on the skin to create suction, stimulating blood flow and promoting healing. Cupping is often used to treat muscle soreness and tension, as well as to support overall wellness. The principles of traditional Chinese medicine hold that the body's qi must flow freely in order for a person to be healthy. Cupping can help to unblock any obstructions in the flow of qi, restoring balance to the body.

  • gua sha for facial rejuvenation

    GUA SHA

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medical massage technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to break up adhesions in the fascia, improve blood flow, and encourage tissue mobilization. It also removes toxins and excess heat from the body. Gua sha is frequently used as part of cosmetic facial acupuncture treatments, and in addressing various conditions including neck and shoulder tension and plantar fasciitis.
